Nonallergic rhinitis; capsicum reliefs

I can’t even remember when I first realized that I couldn’t possibly have a constant cold, and that the regular sneezes and runny nose I had been having for a long time could be symptoms of something else. At one point I was told I must have an allergy and was prescribed antihistamines. But after one pill, I felt very dizzy and knew this wasn’t going to work for me.

My doctor suggested nasal glucocorticoids instead, although she was very reluctant: she recommended inhaling them only when environmental conditions made my rhinitis worse, and then only for a few days. In addition, the effects of glucocorticoids were not immediate: Only on the second or third day of use did I begin to feel some relief. This didn’t seem like a real solution either, but it went on like this for years. At that time, friends who saw me carrying paper tissues everywhere, or who occasionally noticed my eyes turning red with irritation, often asked me why I didn’t take antihistamines, because they seemed to do wonders for people with allergies.

Normally I rejected their suggestions. Then I started thinking that maybe there was a reason why the antihistamines weren’t working for me, and talked to my doctor about taking an allergy test – how had I (or she, for that matter) not thought of that before? Of course, the test results showed that I did not have an allergy: I had non-allergic rhinitis. Even though this did not solve the problem, it prompted me to look for a solution in another direction.

At that point, it only took a few Google searches for me to find out that there were some natural ways to treat my condition. This seemed like a good option compared to glucocorticoids, which I didn’t want to use for a long time. In fact, I had tried sporadic natural nasal sprays (with eucalyptus and mint, or sea salt), but their effects were not impressive. In looking through the results, I discovered that capsicum (yes, the substance found in chili peppers, as crazy as that sounded to me at the time!) could relieve the symptoms of non-allergic rhinitis, and I even found scientific articles that provided evidence for this.

Thus, I came across Capsinol’s website and almost immediately decided to place an order, also considering the very reasonable price of the product. Within days, I received the carefully packaged spray in my mailbox and began using it daily. So far it has worked pretty well for me. Of course it does not cure rhinitis, it is not meant for that, but it certainly relieves its symptoms. And the feeling of relief is clearer and more immediate than with other nasal sprays.

I had read some reviews on the Capsinol website, and so I knew it burned a bit the first few times, but I quickly got used to it. What I’ve found so far is that spraying twice in each nostril is a bit too much for me, so I normally only spray once in each nostril, two or three times a day. If one day I forget to take it, my own body reminds me! I can breathe better, and therefore I can concentrate on more interesting things than my nose. I am very glad I bought Capsinol.
