Lya: In the autumn of 2013, I came across Capsinol on Facebook. After reading the information and other people’s experiences, I became curious and ordered two bottles. This is my honest Capsinol review after more than two years of use.
A long history with nasal sprays
I’ve always had narrow nasal passages, which means fluid doesn’t always drain properly. When things get blocked, it leads to pressure on my ears and a heavy, full feeling in my head. As I got older, the discomfort increased. I also smoked for quite a few years, which certainly didn’t help. (I quit in 2008 and never looked back!)
About 35 years ago, a GP told me to start steaming three times a day and prescribed Otrivin to keep things open. That was the beginning of a long journey with all sorts of nasal sprays. Over the years I tried Otrivin, Nasivin, Vicks Sinex, Rhinospray, Nasonex, and various saline solutions. They all did something, but not quite enough in my opinion, because I had to spray too often. So I kept searching for something better.
My Capsinol review: first impressions
I ordered the Mild version to start carefully, and the Original in case the pepper wasn’t too bad. My first spray of Capsinol Mild was exciting, the words “pepper in your nose” do conjure up certain images! But it wasn’t too bad, though tears did well up in my eyes. After a week, I switched to the stronger Original formula out of curiosity. I could handle the pepper well by then, and I stayed with the Original.
The results
When I started in autumn 2013, I used the spray three times a day, one spray in each nostril. After about three days, I felt comfortable again. Now, after more than two years, I only need it about once a month, and one or two sprays a day is usually enough. That heavy feeling of pressure disappears within a day. During a common cold it takes a bit longer, but that’s to be expected.
My nasal passages will always be on the narrow side, but looking back, Capsinol has become a great companion. A few sprays every now and then, then I simply stop with no issues, and with the confidence that it will help when I need it.
I sometimes see people comment about the price. I understand the hesitation, I had it too. But the bottle contains 20ml, has a long shelf life, and because I need it less and less, one bottle lasts me a very long time.
A big 10 out of 10 from me for Capsinol.
