Hay fever: 9 tips against hay fever complaints

Hello spring and hello hay fever. In other words: Pollen in the air.
While all those cute lambs are being born and the flowers are blooming again, you’re just sneezing. How come? You may be allergic to the pollen or grass and/or tree pollen. The term ‘hay fever’ is used, or the medical term ‘allergic rhinitis’ is used.

How do you recognize hay fever?

In addition to sneezing, you may also suffer from red and/or stinging eyes, an itchy nose, a runny nose, a stuffy nose and/or shortness of breath. Do you suffer from one or a combination of these complaints? Then you may be suffering from hay fever.

Hay fever facts

  • In the morning the pollen level is lowest?

9 tips against hay fever!

Unfortunately, hay fever cannot be cured yet, but luckily there are plenty of tips that can provide relief! Namely:

Tip 1: Avoid pollen. That is definitely easier said than done, but in the morning the level is lower than in the evening. So, for a change, exercise in the morning before going to work instead of in the evening.

Tip 2: Wear sunglasses! Sometimes this can help with the pollen that wants to enter your eyes.

Tip 3: Itchy eyes? A wet washcloth on your eyes can help, so you can give your eyes a rest. TIP: Never rub, it will make it worse!

Tip 4: Are you coming in from the outside? Change your clothes right away, because the pollen is still on your clothes.

Tip 5: Apply Vaseline around the nose, because this can immediately help against the stinging pollen.

Tip 6: Do the rain dance, because the rain rinses the air clean and you suffer less.

Tip 7: Eat honey! From January, take a tablespoon of honey twice a day. Then choose honey from a beekeeper from your own neighborhood, otherwise it won’t work. Why honey? The bees already absorb small amounts of the substance (to which you have an allergic reaction) in their honey. By eating this honey, your body builds up antibodies for these substances in the air. This way you may react less strongly to the pollen.

Tip 8: Close windows in the pollen season! It is logical that you occasionally want to air out your house, but do this mainly early in the morning or late at night. You can also put an anti-pollen hearing aid in front of it or open your window in a place where there is little wind.

Tip 9: Use Capsinol Mild Formula. Capsinol Mild Formula contains besides the red pepper also feverfew (feverfew). The feverfew can reduce hay fever symptoms. The red pepper does not solve the problem of hay fever, but often has a relieving effect on additional complaints, such as a stuffy nose.
