Lya: In the fall of 2013 I came across a page of Capsinol on Facebook. After reading the information and the experiences of users, I became curious and ordered two bottles: the mild version to try carefully, and the original version in case that pepper was not too bad for me.

My Eustachian tubes do not function completely as they should, they only open a small part, so that fluid from the sinuses often cannot drain properly. When mucus remains, the tubes sometimes become blocked, resulting in sinus infections, pressure on the ears, and a feeling of fullness in the head. And as I got older the symptoms increased. I also smoked for quite a few years, so that must have caused some irreparable damage. By the way, I stopped smoking in 2008, and I’ll never start again! People used to say that I was talking a bit through my nose. So it must have been those drains already then.

About 35 years ago, a GP concluded that something was not right when I came to him with a “smashed in” cold that left me with a feeling of pressure in my head. He told me to steam 3x a day, but I didn’t because I find that really annoying. He also prescribed Otrivin for me, and told me to keep things open. That was the beginning of a long period with all kinds of nasal sprays, because I thought that was nice stuff. Before, I didn’t even realize that such a thing existed.

Fortunately, I did not become addicted to the nasal spray. I did become a regular user, because the recurring sinus problems became more or less chronic. In addition to Otrivin, which I could only use for a short time because of the xylometazoline, I also used Nasivin and Vicks Sinex and Rhinospray and Nasonex (the latter on prescription from the doctor), alternating with normal saline solutions. And I must say that they all did something, but not enough in my opinion because I had to spray too often. So I kept looking for a real one…..

And then Capsinol came into my life. I found the first snuff (mild form) very exciting, because the term pepper-in-your-nose does evoke certain visions. But it wasn’t too bad, although tears did well up in my eyes. The stimulation gives the feeling that Capsinol works immediately, but the real work happens in silence: when the stimuli wear off after a few minutes, you notice that the mucus starts to loosen and flows from all the drainage pipes towards the throat. That pops right into your head. After a week I switched to the stronger original formula out of curiosity, I could now tolerate the pepper well. And I stayed with this one. I did use up the opened bottle of mild spray, as a snack in between.

When I started Capsinol in the fall of 2013, I used the spray three times a day and then 1 sniff in each nostril, took my time and breathed well. After about 3 days the complaints were over until the next round, on average twice a month. And now, after more than two years, I need the spray on average once a month, and 1 to 2 sprays a day is usually enough. The pressure in the cavities has disappeared after a day. With a common cold it obviously takes a few days longer and then I use 2 to 3 pinches per nostril, but then there is also a stuffy nose, which is part of it.

I will always have my sinus complaints, because the Eustachian tubes do not repair themselves. And the ENT doctor does not think it is serious enough to proceed with an operation. Looking back, I come to the conclusion that Capsinol has become a great buddy for me. A few sniffs every now and then, then just stop with no withdrawal, and all with the knowledge that it will help.

I sometimes see reservations about the price on Facebook. Understandably, also for me the issue of whether or not has been, where my curiosity has won. I look at it differently now, because it is a great product, it contains 20 ml, it has a long shelf life, my complaints became less and so I last a long time with a bottle.

A big 10 from me for Capsinol.
